Recycling Events

  1. Federal Way Tool Library Organizing Meeting

    March 4, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM @ City Hall
    33325 8th Ave S
    Federal Way, WA 98003

Be part of the group of citizens that brings a tool library to Federal Way. Meetings at at 6 pm on the first Wednesday of every month at City Hall.

What is a Tool Lending Library? A tool lending library is like a regular library, but with tools and equipment instead of books. Tool libraries allow people to borrow tools they rarely use (such as a pressure washer) rather than having to buy them and take up space. This library can help homeowners maintain their homes and properties, regardless of income level. In addition, tool libraries help build community.

  2. Backyard Chicken 101

    March 11, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Federal Way City Hall
    33325 8th Ave S
    Federal Way, WA 98003

Seattle Tilth will share tips and techniques on how to raise backyard chickens, including important considerations in caring for a small flock of hens in limited space including chicken physiology, behavior, health, nutrition and housing. City of Federal Way Community Development will explain code and restrictions for urban livestock such as chickens, ducks, rabbits, bees and goats.

  3. Deadline to Sign Up for Master Recycler Composter Training

    March 14, All Day

Join the growing group of residents who have gone through the Master Recycler Composter training. This is similar to the Master Gardener program, but on recycling and composting. King County provides training and you share your knowledge with others. Training occur in Kent on April 4th, 11th and 25th from 10 AM to 3 PM.

  4. Homemade Trade Event

    March 15, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Federal Way City Hall
    33325 8th Ave S
    Federal Way, WA 98003

Imagine a cashless exchange of your homemade/homegrown items for someone else's. Sound interesting? Check us out! We are starting a new trade/barter event in Federal Way. Bring items such as baked goods, homegrown produce/herbs, plants/seeds, jams/jellies, jewelry, soap, honey, eggs, knitted items, artwork or anything homemade. You can bring as little or as much as you want. We provide the tables and instructions. It's easy to barter, just ask someone to trade what you have for something they have. “Would you like to trade your knitted scarf for a jar of my jam?” You determine the value of your items and can discuss and negotiate so it is fair. You don’t have to take every offer. It's fun and free, so come check us out.

  5. Recycling Ambassadors Recognized at City Council Meeting

March 17, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Federal Way City Hall, Council Chambers
    33325 8th Ave S
    Federal Way, WA 98003

The City Council would like to recognize the 2014 Recycling Ambassadors for taking the recycling training and sharing their knowledge with their neighbors. Great job!
