The City plans to build a Performing Arts and Event Center (PAEC) in the downtown core. The PAEC will accommodate conferences, seminars, events, nonprofit and community meetings.
The Performing Arts and Event Center will provide a much-needed community cultural venue to accommodate the increasing number of community cultural events that currently must seek venues outside the city for most performances. The project will also catalyze redevelopment of the City Center and implement the City’s Comprehensive Plan vision for the City Center to develop into one of the key urban centers in the I-5 corridor, providing substantial growth in family wage jobs, housing and destinations in close proximity to the Federal Way Transit Center.
The City Council has currently authorized just the schematic design phase, which includes detailed designs and a pro forma operations analysis. For information about the fundraising campaign, visit federalwaypacc.org
Mayor's Blue Ribbon Panel
Mayor Ferrell has assembled nine local experts in banking and finance, performing arts, hospitality and related areas to review the performing arts and conference center and report findings to the City Council. On May 8, 2014, the Panel presented its report and findings of fact to the City Council in a special study session.
