Annexation Overview North Lake, Parkway, and Redondo East annexations are now part of City of Federal Way! On November 17, 2004 the King County Elections Divisionofficially certified the approval by the voters of the three annexations. City Council and City staff would like to welcome the new residents and business owners to the City of Federal Way. City Council, King County and staff are working towards an effective date of January 1, 2005. After the effective date these areas will become part of the City and will receive municipal services from the City rather than the County. Please use the links to the right to review additional annexation information. (Click the map for an enlarged view.)

Directly after the annexation effective date, the City is required to conduct a door-to-door census of all three annexation areas. The census is required by state law and is necessary for the City to receive certain state revenues, which are distributed based on population. Census enumerators will be going door-to-door through the annexation areas after the first of the year. Cooperation from new residents in completing the census will be very much appreciated. Mailing Addresses Auburn and Kent mailing addresses will switch to Federal Way. Street numbers will not change. Zip codes are not anticipated to change. The Auburn/Federal Way Post Master will contact you regarding modified mailing addresses. New Annexation Areas to Become a Part of the City As noted above, after the effective date of annexation municipal services in the three annexation areas will be provided by the city of Federal Way rather than King County. New residents and business owners will receive the same services and pay the same taxes as current City residents and business owners. Please review the rest of this web page for more details about city services, taxes and fees, comparisons with King County and other useful information.
