The City of Federal Way regulates all businesses operating within city limits per City Code 12.05.040. These include standard businesses, home occupations, temporary permits, outside contractors, right of way activity permits, day cares and adult family homes. Depending on the type of business license you are applying for it can take one to four weeks to process your application. Specialty licenses such as pawnbroker, second hand dealer, day cares and adult family homes will need to fill out an additional application, along with the standard business license application and may take longer to review.

Starting November 1, 2012, online renewals for the 2013 Business License Renewal will be available, all licenses expire on 12/31/12.
