EMPLOYMENT STATUS:      Temporary, Part-Time

SALARY RANGE:                $12.50 - $15.00/hour

*NOTE: this is a temporary, part-time position, ranging from 20-25 hours per week, with no benefits. 



Under the direction of the Community Recreation Coordinator, the Site Supervisor will supervise, plan, and lead daily recreational activities for up to 60 children, ages 5-12 attending afterschool program serving children from Twin Lakes, Mirror Lake and Sherwood Forest Elementary schools. Work hours would be from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Program hours are from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and on early release days. As a representative of the City of Federal Way Parks Department, uniform will be provided and must be worn during working hours.



  • Assist in the administration of the afterschool program.
  • Supervise and provide direction to the Day Camp Leaders.
  • Plan and implement of daily activities including: reading, homework, crafts, and gym games.
  • Supervise and actively participate in group activities and serve as a positive role model for children at all times.
  • Communicate and work cooperatively with staff, parents and supervisors.
  • Enforce discipline policies and provide safety for the children at all times.
  • Belay certified for climbing on the rock wall; training provided.
  • Render first aid in case of injury.
  • Write necessary accident/incident or other reports.
  • Attend required staff training and meetings.
  • Maintain professional image and positive attitude at all times
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.



  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Educational background in recreation, education or child development preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in planning, implementing and supervising recreational and/or educational activities.
  • Current First Aid, Child and Adult CPR cards required.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.
  • Responsible for own transportation to and from various job sites.
