SALARY RANGE:                $11.50 - $13.00/hour

Under the direction of the Day Camp Supervisor and the Community Recreation Coordinator, Day Camp Leader I & II will help plan, implement and lead daily recreational activities for up to 30 children, ages 6-12 attending Day Camp. Our Camp follows the Federal Way School District calendar and will run during Spring Break (4/2/18 - 4/6/18) and Summer Break (6/25/18-8/31/18). As a representative of the Department of Parks, a uniform will be provided and must be worn during working hours.



  • Plan, lead and teach various activities including, but limited to art, crafts, science, games, sports, theater and songs.
  • Supervise and actively participate in group activities and serve as a positive role model for children at all times.
  • Work closely with other staff in an enthusiastic, cooperative and supportive manner.
  • Assist in implementation of discipline plans with children.
  • Maintain safety of children at all times.
  • Render first aid in case of injury.
  • Assist in the planning and implement of daily activities.
  • Write necessary accident/incident or other reports.
  • Attend required staff trainings and other meetings.
  • Maintain professional image and positive attitude at all times.
  • Belay children at Rock Wall, training is provided for 18 years and above.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Day Camp Supervisor and Recreation Coordinator.



  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Educational background in recreation, education, or child development preferable
  • Experience in planning, implementing and supervising recreational and/or educational activities for children preferable
  • Current First Aid, Child and Adult CPR card required.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check
  • Responsible for own transportation to and from various job sites.



  • Successful applicants should expect an interview sometime between February and march. This is subject to change.
  • If hired, applicants should expect to attend training March 30th and June 22nd.Training is mandatory.
  • If hired, applicants should expect to work on, the 4th of July, at the City’s Red, White and Blues Festival.
  • Spring Break Camp runs from 4/2 – 4/6 at Federal Way Community Center.
  • Summer Camp runs from 6/25 – 8/31 at Federal Way Community Center.
