Event Description
Trashing tea bags, fruit peels, and coffee grounds will be a thing of the past after this interactive online class. Learn the tasty benefits of turning would-be kitchen scraps into bitters, infusions (simple syrups, Oleo Saccharum, and liqueur), and both savory and citrus-based stock for a delicious second life. Class attendees will learn about the history of bitters and infusions, how to make a batch, and recipes in which to use them. After this class we hope you will be inspired to create a β€œclosed-loop kitchen” while elevating your homemade food and beverages.
The first 50 Federal Way households who register for the class will be eligible to pick up a free starter kit which can be used during the virtual class. Each kit contains 1 'spice' bitter blend started, 1 'citrus' bitter blend starter, 1 infusing jar, 2 dropper bottles, julep strainer, cocktail mixing spoon, mini funnel, coffee filter, 3 quick infusing bags, dram sample of 2 ready to use bitters, labels and instruction card that includes a complimentary tasting at 2BAR spirits. One kit per household. Pickup instructions will be emailed in June.
Non-Federal Way residents can contact sonie@nowonder.info to purchase $20 kits for curbside pickup at 2Bar distillery, 2960 4th Ave S, Seattle, 1 – 4 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, or by appointment. Kits are not required for the class, but allow you to make your own creations during the class.
This class will be taught by Sonie Watson who navigated a 20-year hobby into a 10+ year career in the spirits industry. She has earned several certifications and hold a wealth of knowledge that she is excited to share with fellow cocktail curious humans. She has taught wine, spirit, and cocktail classes featuring nationally known brands and have been a featured mixologist for an award-winning cocktail subscription service. In 2019 she started her own bitters company, Cocktail Lovers’ Bitters, which is currently sold at 2Bar spirits distillery where she distills bourbon and moonshine.
