SALARY RANGE:                    $17.50 - $22.00/hour              CLOSES: When Filled


*NOTE: This is a part-time position, approximately 20-25 hours every week including evenings, weekends, and overnight trips.



Administer and coordinate the City of Federal Way Special Olympic sports programs for people living with developmental disabilities. Process and complete all paperwork including medical and intake forms, lead practices, coach some sports, communicate with and lead coaches, and plan and lead trips to tournaments including overnight trips. Work schedule is flexible but will include supervising practices in the afternoon and/or evenings on certain days throughout the year.



  • Collect and process all paperwork for Special Olympic programs.
  • Coach some, but not all, sports.
  • Train, evaluate & supervise coaches and volunteers.
  • Lead trips with athletes to different tournaments throughout the region.
  • Monitor behavior of athletes during practices, tournaments and down time during trips.
  • Render first aid in case of minor injury.
  • Maintain communication and work with Inclusion Coordinator.
  • Assist participants when needed.
  • Attend staff training and staff meetings.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.



  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Two years working with persons living with disabilities
  • Experience working with Special Olympic programs preferred.
  • Current First Aid Card and CPR card required.
  • Must have valid Washington State Driver’s License. 
  • Experience working with people with disabilities or other populations in a recreation setting is preferred.
