The City of Federal Way provides a domestic violence victim's advocate to support victims of domestic violence through the legal process in Federal Way Municipal Court and other applicable courts. The advocate is not an attorney but is a member of the prosecution team. The advocate is available Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. New Domestic Violence Law
The Federal Way City Council enacted two new domestic violence crimes, which became effective June 29, 2006. One crime is committing domestic violence in the presence of a child or witnessed by a child. Child is defined as the victim’s minor child, stepchild or minor child residing within the household. The second crime is committing domestic violence strangulation when it is not a felony.

There are many ways to take action against domestic violence. For ideas, contact the King County Coalition Against Domestic Violence at 206.568.5454.
