TVs, Computers & Electronics Recycling

TVs, computers and monitors can now be recycled for FREE! Visit E-Cycle Washington for recycling locations such as Goodwill, 32521 Pacific Hwy S, Federal Way, 253-946-0447. The Take It Back Network lists locations that recycle a variety of electronics.



Microwave & Appliance Recycling 

To recycle large scrap metal items including major appliances, visit a nearby scrap metal dealer. Check on-line and call ahead for hours, rates and restrictions. One of the closest has a drive-on scale and pays for scrap iron, plus a covered weighing area where you can recycle scrap aluminum, copper, and other valuable metals. Visit Calbag Metals at 1602 Marine View Dr, in nearby Tacoma tideflats, or call them at 253-572-6800.


Styrofoam Blocks and Other Packaging Materials

Styrofoam blocks and peanuts, bubble wrap, clear plastic film and cardboard can now be recycled in one stop! Visit Styro Recycle for more details. They are located at 23418 68th Ave. S, in Kent (east side of West Valley Hwy. inside "Park 234" business park). Call 253-838-9555 for more information.


Confidential Document Shredding Events

The Washington State Office of the Attorney General publishes a list of free community shredding events. Events are often added, so check back frequently. (Many events are scheduled around "Tax Time").  Visit www.atg.wa.gov/shredathon.aspx#events 


Latex Paint Recycling
Latex paint can now be recycled! Drop off unwanted latex paint, water-based stains and clear finishes for recycling at any Take it Back Network locations. The closest location is Northshore Ace Hardware, 35419 21st Ave SW, Federal Way. Please contact them at 253-835-5052 for recycling fees and any restrictions.
Recycling Other Items
Items such as clothing, plastic bags, mattresses, cooking oil and large pieces of wood are recyclable, but not collected in your blue recycling cart or grey food/yard cart. Please visit these websites for recycling options.

Recycling Events

The city hosts recycling collection events each spring and fall. Residents can recycle a wide range of items, including: appliances, wood, mattresses, batteries, tires, electronics, fluorescent tubes, Styrofoam blocks, holiday lights and wires and more.
