Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Public Hearings

Enacted in 1974, The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program is authorized under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended. The main objective of CDBG is the development of workable urban communities. CDBG is principally invested in eligible low/moderate-income activities that benefit Federal Way residents. Activities can be public service or capital. The goals of the CDBG Program are to provide:

  • Decent housing;
  • A suitable living environment; or
  • Economic opportunities.

OPEN PUBLIC COMMENT PERIODS

The City of Federal Way invited comments on the 2023 CAPER.  Public comments will be accepted until  4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 by emailing Kim Bachrach or by participating in the public hearings at the Human Services Commission meeting on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. in the Hylebos Room or the City Council meeting on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
