In 2021, Federal Way was selected by the National League of Cities as one of eight cities nationwide for its City Innovation Ecosystems program. This innovative program sponsored by the League and the Kansas City-based Kauffman Foundation has aided city staff in identifying and assembling entrepreneurial resources available throughout the Puget Sound Region.

The Federal Way SourceFinderTM was developed by city staff as a result of the City's participation in the program. The SourceFinderTM is a graphic chart of nearly 100 entrepreneurial resources available to Federal Way entrepreneurs and businesses.
