Department Divisions
The City of Federal Way Public Works Department is managed by the Administrative Division and organized into seven additional divisions.
- Operations and Maintenance Provides operations and maintenance of the city streets, and storm drainage infrastructure.
- Capital Improvements Administer the planning, design and construction of major and minor capital improvement projects.
- Development Services Reviews all engineering plans for residential and commercial development projects, as well as manages Franchise Utility Agreements and right-of-way permit and construction.
- Solid Waste and Recycling Manages the solid waste / recycling utility and franchise contract and provides education and outreach to local residents.
- Surface Water Management Works to keep our waterways clean and our residents safe managing stormwater runoff quality and quantity through education, enforcement, and infrastructure development.
- Traffic Provides transportation planning, traffic operation improvements, and neighborhood traffic services.
- Fleet - Responsible for the purchase, maintenance, and disposal of all non-police City vehicles and equipment.
